Thanksgiving Menu!

We absolutely look forward to Thanksgiving every year! Bring on the turkey and, best of all, the LEFTOVERS! It is such a great holiday, as it’s all about eating, being with the ones you love, and what we are truly thankful for.

I am starting to plan out our menu and this is what I have so far:

First, we must always, always, always, start the day with some homemade Bloody Marys. This is something that my Mom has done since as long as I can remember and she truly does make the best Bloody Marys. She has tried to show me how, but there is no measuring involved here it’s just pour some of this, some of that, add this, add that. Really, Mom?

Brined turkey (my Star’s recipe, which is absolutely amazing, so moist!), it did take some convincing to get him to reveal his process, but I have my ways….. πŸ™‚

Candied yams

Cranberry dressing

Mashed potatoes

Homemade biscuits

Vegetable side dish, which I am still trying to figure out. If anyone has a great dish they would like to share, please post it under comments. My sister-in-law, Shelly, has a great baked asparagus dish, but I never got the exact ingredients/measurements and I pretty much just winged it and the results were meh! Hint, hint….Shelly.

Salad (not sure of this either, again if you would like to share one, please comment)

Dessert – thinking of something with apples

But the best part is the leftovers! We created a dish a few years ago, which we named “Turkey Stromboli.” Details will come later, but here is a picture of me making it.

You will love this recipe!

I cannot wait to eat! Bring on Thanksgiving!

Peppermint Ice Cream!

OK, I know it is early, but when I saw this at BJ’s yesterday, I got very excited and just had to buy it! Yes, my most favorite time of year is coming……Christmas! I know it seems early and the stores seem to display their Christmas decorations earlier and earlier every year, but I don’t care! I actually bought another Santa Claus (yes, I have an obsession with him and he is pretty much in every room of our home) and an adorable hand blown glass tree that goes great with him at Marshalls. I just could not resist.

Anyhoo….I look forward to this time of year, as I know Edy’s Ice Cream will be bringing out their Peppermint Ice Cream. If you love Peppermint, you really need to try this. The vanilla ice cream is so creamy and it has nice chunks of peppermint swirls…..oh my gosh, my lips are smacking right now! What I love most is that Deanna and I are the only ones who like it, so more for us, that is….if I save some for Deanna. πŸ™‚

So, if you will excuse me now, I cannot let this bowl of ice cream go to waste. πŸ™‚

Pumpkin Flavor Finds!

I love Pumpkin! If it has pumpkin in it, send it my way! I was actually pretty excited when I saw this bread in our local store. A favorite brand of mine, Pepperidge Farm, has created the Pumpkin Spice Swirl Bread. Yes!

A few days later, my Star went out shopping and brought me home a surprise. Philadelphia Pumpkin Spice Cream Cheese! Who knew? This is amazingly awesome!

The two of these together = pure yumminess!

If you are fan of pumpkin as I am, you must try them as you will be pumpkinly surprised! πŸ™‚

Getting Ready for Fall!

The house is now decorated with the sight and smell of Fall. I still have trouble remembering where everything gets placed and, of course, I ask Joe, “where did I have this?”..and he replies, “I don’t know.” πŸ™‚ I am beginning to think I need to take pictures to remind me.

I do love the Fall! I love everything about it, the colors, the smell, the great comfort foods, desserts – homemade pumpkin and apple pie, all of the Fall Craft/Food Festivals. It truly is my favorite time of year. The weather is absolutely perfect! Don’t get me wrong, I do love the summer, the beach and fresh Jersey tomatoes and corn, but part of me cannot wait for the cool days and nights of Fall.

I welcome you Fall and so does my tummy!

Kitchen Table Centerpiece (from QVC - Bethlehem Lights) I love this piece, as I have one for Winter and Spring as well.

The best of Summer and Fall!

Stay tuned for delicious Fall feasts and treats!
